Julio Godoy
Founder, President & Director
Julio was born in rural Argentina, a 3rd world country. In a environment where people didn’t care about trees, Julio’s father loved to plant trees. For every tree that he cut down for the stove he would plant two. Ever since he was a small child, Julio loved to play amongst the trees.
After achieving a university degree, Julio worked for River Plate College managing the food services department for 11 years. After that, he moved into the Production Manager position at Frutigran, a food processing plant and then to Granix in the same position. Julio became a district pastor for 9 years, during this time he conducted special health courses on subjects such as, vegetarian cuisine and quitting smoking.
Julio then partnered with a friend, opening the first vegetarian restaurant in a beef country! Following their great success they eventually opened three more restaurants.
Julio decided to move to Canada to give his children the opportunity to study at a university in a first world country.
In northern Alberta Julio and his wife purchased a janitorial business franchise. After five years they sold the business and moved to Victoria where they bought a janitorial/building management company. Their work has taken them across Canada to more than 100 locations.
Julio loves outdoor activities such as gardening in his acreage. His main hobbies include; skiing, hiking, camping, and boating. Julio has seven children and five grand children. Six of his children are in Canada and one attends EEUU, and is heavily involved in the production of solar energy panels.
Julio has always been very concerned about protecting the environment. He decided to develop a plan to help commercial building owners and managers save energy, improve on waste management practices, and implement healthier cleaning procedures. With a focus on saving money while protecting the environment, Julio conceptualized and created the Econo+Green Plan.
“Everyone wins when cleaner buildings are acheived at less cost while protecting the environment.”– Julio Godoy, Econo+Green Plan, Canada
Diego Casados
Sales & Operations Manager
Diego grew up in one of the most populous cities in the world, Mexico D.F. After graduating from University, majoring in marketing, he moved north in search of a place less polluted environment to call home. Diego lived in the city of Tijuana for 12 years, the first six of which he worked as an Operations Manager for a Lasik Surgery Clinic. During this period he was a founding member of a nonprofit organization called “The CODET Foundation” with a focus on blindness prevention. Diego also worked as a Marketing Manager for Uniradio, the largest broadcasting group in that region. He utilized the opportunity and access to resources to help people affected by natural disasters.
Diego enjoys visiting places where he can experience the natural landscape including the sea and the mountains. His admiration of beautiful landscapes brought him to Vancouver ten years ago as a tourist. From that moment, Diego and his wife decided that some day they will move to this beautiful region. Two years ago that dream was fulfilled when Diego, his wife, and his 4 children moved to Victoria.
Julio and Diego shared the idea to encourage and enable a positive impact on the environment through the implementation of the Econo+Green Plan.
Betty Ponso
Director & Field Consultant
Betty moved to Canada from Argentina in 1995, where she studied law and started a family. Since moving to Canada, she has worked as a manager for a maintenance company in Alberta and later on in British Columbia.
Betty’s concern for the environment was realized while working on building maintenance; she started developing ways to save energy, fuel and money. Betty presented her environmental conservation ideas to the Econo+Green founder after which she accepted a position with the company as a field consultant.
Maritza Chouza
Marketing & Media Coordinator
Since she was a child Maritza has always been a creative person with big dreams placing no limitations as to what she can achieve. Growing up Maritza was part of a big family that always provided love and support to those in need. A great admirer of nature led her to study photography, presenting a medium to develop her artistic skills with great success.
After getting married, Maritza moved to Tijuana, Baja California, with her husband. Maritza received a Diploma in Digital Design from the “Universidad Iberoamericana” in Tijuana, the same campus where she taught classes for the Graphic Design Department for 10 years.

Maritza was invited to participate with the Econo+Green Plan, in-part because of her ideology to “do something good for someone.” The plan has provided a means to benefit the community by bettering environment.
Rachael Skopyk
Environmental Consultant & News Editor
Rachael was born and raised in the interior of British Colombia. Growing up surrounded by lakes, mountains and forests has instilled a great appreciation for the environment and the services it provides. Clean air, fresh water, and natural resources have always been greatly appreciated by Rachael. From a young age she recognized her responsibility and desire to ensure that these natural resources and environmental services were protected and conserved. At the age of 12 Rachael won a city wide essay writing contest on water conservation, since then her desire to increase environmental conscientiousness has only increased.
However, Rachael was aware that in order to follow her dreams of ensuring that our communal impact on the environment is minimized that she needed tools and a formal education. Rachael attended Camosun College in 2006 and is now a graduate of the Environmental Technology program earning a diploma. She was introduced to Julio Godoy and Diego Casados immediately recognizing the opportunity to put her studies into action as a contributing member of the “Econo+Green Plan” team.
